Description

With businesses chasing growth and expanding their frontiers to reach new and promising locations across the world, which could include regions with significant potential risks of conflicts, terrorism and other armed violence, it behooves a responsibility of DUTY OF CARE on business organizations to train staff with basic tools on how to identify these risks, and how to survive and deal with these challenges while operating in such environments. This is where the HEAT training comes into play.

Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) is the recommended safety training for people that are at risk by virtue of the environment they live. It is an intensive course that allows participants to learn and apply lifesaving behaviors through realistic simulations while living in high-risk environments.
It will:
a) Enhance the resilience of personnel when working in hazardous environments.
b) Increase the understanding of proactive security and of basic field measures.
c) Provide personnel with the basic tools and techniques needed to avoid potentially dangerous situations or to cope adequately with actual dangerous ones in the field.

TRAINING METHODOLOGY.
Hostile Environment Awareness Training is crucial for anyone working in risk-associated, insecure or hostile environments. Our training curriculum provides comprehensive coverage of the relevant issues in this area. It is designed to prepare participants who find themselves in potentially stressful situations for the worst-case scenarios.

COURSE STRUCTURE
Essential classroom training, which combines online with tabletop exercises and scenario simulations. These would be deployed to prepare participants for real-life situations like roadblocks, abductions, weapons, explosives etc.

OVERALL LEARNING OBJECTIVES AND TARGET GROUP
HEAT is a one-week course (delivered within a six-day period) aimed at equipping participants with the training needed to deal effectively with risk-associated and emergency/critical situations while working and living in hostile environments.
Overall, the course has two primary objectives:
1. To improve participants’ knowledge of multiple threats present in hostile field environments and ways and means of dealing with them in effective manner.
2. To rehearse and practice safety and security procedures according to specific threats.

TARGET GROUP: This course is essential for humanitarian aid workers, human rights defenders, journalists, people and businesses working in violent environments or remote areas.
