COURSE OVERVIEW

Master Planning is a catalyst for defining a vision for security that touches all aspects of service delivery,
including technology, IT integration, command and control and communication with stakeholders and
employees. The Plan will identify areas where security can be repositioned as a core function
contributing to the bottom line of the school.

The Plan processes are comprehensive, proactive protection solutions, requiring collaboration among
students, teachers and administrators. This also includes ways to adopt successful emergency response
procedures for schools.

TRAINING OUTCOME

Participants will be exposed to key elements, physical and administrative that are required in managing
security of schools including coordination of inclusiveness of stakeholders.
This course will equip participants with required skills and tools to effectively discharge the role of a
school security manager.

We shall be sharing a checklist on security of school that participants will take home to carry out
assessment of how secure their facility is including the gaps that needs to be filled to make the school
secure.

MODULES

This course is divided into 3 modules namely;

MODULE 1
Administrative Procedures: This module bothers on administrative procedures that are required in
school security master Plan. We will be looking at the role of the Security manager, management of
security programs, background checks, administration of sanctions etc.

Module 2
Physical Security: Here we will look at perimeter walls of the school and buildings within the campus by
ensuring that they meet the required standards, layout of buildings, access control and control of keys,
lightning, video surveillance, fire and alarm systems management, handling of an emergency, training
for facility staff and academic staff.

Module 3
This involves a comprehensive look into school safety and security checklists. In the checklist, we shall
be looking at school exterior, playground, school interior areas, development /enforcement of policies,
procedures and data collection, intervention and prevention plan, staff development, inclusiveness-

opportunities for students, parents and community involvement in security and safety of school, role of
law enforcement agencies and development of Crisis Management Plan for the school.

Eligibility: Participants in this course must be school security/safety managers, facility managers, school
proprietors, school staff charged with responsibility of managing security and safety, educationists,
Government representatives.
